Kerry Kennedy Found Not Guilty Of Drugged Driving; Claims She Took Sleeping Pill By Accident

Kerry Kennedy was acquitted of drugged driving, and it seems as though she is very relieved. She claims that she took a sleeping pill by accident, causing her to hit a truck. She will definitely double-check her pills from now on- read the article for more information...

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — Kerry Kennedy was acquitted Friday of drugged driving after she accidentally took a sleeping pill and then sideswiped a truck in a wild highway drive she said she didn't remember.
Kennedy hugged and clasped hands with her lawyers as a six-person jury cleared her of driving while impaired, a misdemeanor. It had carried the potential for up to a year in jail, though that would be unlikely for a first-time offender.
"I'm incredibly grateful to the jury for working so hard on this case ... and to my lawyers ... and to my family and friends and so many other people who supported me," Kennedy said afterward. "I'm happy justice was done."
A human-rights advocate, Kennedy is a scion of one political dynasty — a daughter of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and niece of President John F. Kennedy — and a onetime member of another, as the former wife of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Her 85-year-old mother, Ethel Kennedy, and other members of their famous family attended the trial, which drew so much attention that it was moved from a small-town courtroom to a bigger courthouse in White Plains.
Prosecutors and Kennedy's defense lawyers agreed the 54-year-old took the sleeping drug zolpidem unintentionally, mistaking it for her daily thyroid medication, before heading off to her suburban New York gym on July 13, 2012. The trial centered on whether or not she realized she was impaired and should have stopped.
Despite the pill mix-up, "she is responsible for the chain of events that happened after that," prosecutor Doreen Lloyd said in her summation. She argued that Kennedy shrugged off the symptoms because she was busy.

5 Craziest Crimes of the Week

Happy Friday everyone! What better way to end the work week than to see the craziest crime roundup? Here is a list of the five craziest crimes committed this week...

(NEWSER) – Sloppy police work and a wayward rocker make this week's list:
  • Teen Wrongly Jailed Over Name Confusion: A Florida teenager spent 35 days in jail on sex-assault charges because it apparently never occurred to his arresting officers that two people might have the same name. Cody Lee Williams, now 19, was arrested last August after a young girl told police that a "Cody Williams" had sex with her in 2012. But there was another Cody Williams.
  • Christian Rocker: Yes, I Hired a Hitman to Kill My Wife: A Christian heavy metal rocker pleaded guilty to hiring a hit man to murder his estranged wife. Prosecutors say Tim Lambesis, lead singer of Grammy-nominated California band As I Lay Dying, asked a personal trainer at his gym to arrange it.
  • Owner of Citizen Kane Castle Shot in Head: Long Island police have a high-profile shooting on their hands: Developer Gary Melius was shot in the head Monday as he got into his Mercedes near the castle he calls home. Yes, castle. In fact, if you've seen Citizen Kane, you've seen the exteriors of Oheka Castle.

Timothy Lambesis Pleads Guilty: As I Lay Dying Singer Admits Hiring Hitman To Kill Wife

This man had hired a hitman to murder his estranged wife, but the man that he hired was an undercover agent. Timothy Lambesis apparently clarified after the taped conversation that he definitely wanted his ex-wife killed. He is out on bail now awaiting trial. Read the article below:

VISTA, Calif. (AP) — The lead singer of Grammy-nominated metal band As I Lay Dying pleaded guilty Tuesday to trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife.
Timothy Lambesis, 32, remains free on $2 million bond until he is sentenced May 2 on one count of solicitation of murder in Vista Superior Court, north of San Diego.
Lambesis was recorded telling an undercover agent that he wanted his wife killed, according to prosecutors. The investigation began last April after Lambesis allegedly told a personal trainer at his gym that he wanted to get rid of his wife.
The undercover agent, San Diego County Sheriff's Officer Howard Bradley, testified last year that Lambesis met him at an Oceanside bookstore in May and said he wanted his wife "gone."
Bradley said he asked Lambesis directly if he wanted his wife killed, and the singer replied, "'Yes, I do.'"
Lambesis said his wife, Meggan Lambesis, had restricted his visits with their three adopted children after they separated in September 2012, Bradley testified at a preliminary hearing. The singer also told the agent that he was angry that Meggan Lambesis would get a large share of his income in a divorce settlement.

Rape Conspiracy Trial Begins For Michael Vanhise And Robert Christopher Asch

These men allegedly conspired to rape, kidnap, and torture a series of women. It is the belief of the defense team that the men were misinterpreted while sharing sexual fantasies. No one was harmed in the case, and the men had met on a website where such brutal situations are a common sexual fantasy. Read the article below for more information...

NEW YORK (AP) — Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of a New Jersey man and a former Manhattan school librarian charged with conspiring to rape, torture and murder women and children, a case that grew from the prosecution of a New York police officer on cannibalism charges.
About 90 prospective jurors will be introduced to the case before they answer nine written questions meant to ensure they can remain fair and impartial despite the lurid nature of some of the trial evidence.
Michael Vanhise, 23, of Trenton, N.J., and Robert Christopher Asch, 61, of New York, are charged with plotting from spring 2011 to January 2013 to kidnap, rape, torture and kill women and children, including Vanhise's wife, stepdaughter, sister-in-law and her children. They are also charged with conspiring early last year in a plot against another woman.
No one was harmed and defense lawyers insist the charges arose from a misinterpretation by the government of the sharing online of sexual fantasies among the men.
Prospective jurors will be told that Vanhise came to the attention of law enforcement because of Internet chats he had with former New York City Police Officer Gilberto Valle. Valle was convicted last year of conspiracy in a plot to kidnap, kill and eat women. He is awaiting sentencing.
U.S. District Judge Paul G. Gardephe plans to read to jurors an introduction to the questionnaire that says the government is likely to introduce emails and recorded conversations between the defendants and others involving discussions of kidnapping, raping, torturing and killing women and children.

Stephanie Gribble Arrested After 4 Children Allegedly Overdose At Unlicensed Day Care

It is a sad thing when you cannot trust the daycare to properly take care of your children. The authorities have ordered the woman to close the daycare responsible for these over-doses. Read the article below for further information.
An Indiana woman was arrested after four children in her care were admitted to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of an apparent drug overdose.
Day care owner Stephanie Gribble, 37, faces four counts of child neglect after Child Services officials contacted police Thursday.
Indianapolis police said that the four children may have been given a combination of over-the-counter and prescription medication. Police said that the kids -- three girls and a boy -- displayed difficulty walking, and were drooling and staring into space when they were brought in.
On Friday, officials ordered Gribble's day care closed. Documents obtained by WISH-TV show that Gribble has been in trouble several times for operating an unlicensed day care, beginning in 2008. The station reported:
Court documents in 2011 show that Gribble had 13 kids in her care and she never got a license. She did it again in 2012. That time, she had 15 children but she still did not apply for a license.

Denise Keesee Pleads Guilty To Sexually Abusing 16-Year-Old Male Student

This type of case keeps gaining momentum in the media, and this particular case seems so familiar considering the age of student victims. The way that this case differs is that the husband got involved by threatening the victims with a gun. Hopefully the victims get the help that they need to recover from this situation. The article below goes into further detail about the case.

A former math and special education teacher at an Oregon high school has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old student.
Denise Keesee, 39, faced six counts of second-degree sexual abuse involving two former students. On Monday she pleaded guilty to two counts involving one student. She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 21, according to Oregon Live.
Prosecutors alleged that the woman abused victims at her home, at the boys' homes, and at Sherwood High School, where she taught in a program for at-risk youth.
A lawsuit filed by one boy's family claimed that Keesee groomed her victim while she was his instructor at a program for troubled teens at the school in 2006.
According to the station:

The suit also alleged that Keesee’s husband, then the school’s police liaison officer, threatened the boy with a gun after learning about the sexual relationship.

Boy Rapes 8-Year-Old Sister, Blames It On Watching Porn On Xbox

If the new bill passes children will not be able to access adult content unless they can prove that they are eighteen. This is an awful situation and I can only hope that the little girl gets the proper therapy to overcome the situation. Read the article below for more information.
A 13-year-old boy in Blackburn, England has pleaded guilty to raping his 8-year-old sister, claiming that he got the idea after watching porn via the Internet browser of his friend's Xbox 360.
The boy, whose name has not been released, told police he and his friend were watching porn and he "decided to try it out." He claims he chose his sister because she was small and "couldn't remember stuff," according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
On Wednesday, he admitted in court to indecently assaulting the 8-year-old and inciting her to perform a sex act on him.
"This is going to completely destabilise this little girl's life," Fiona Elvines, of the Rape Crisis Charity, told the Telegraph. She said her organization saw a similar case in November.
